Last chance to register for 6th EuroIndia Summit “Greening Cities”

Few days are left to register for the 6th EuroIndia Summit on “Greening Cities” to be held at Hyderabad on the 21-22nd October 2013, organized by EuroIndia in collaboration with the European Business and Technology Centre (EBTC), the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and supported by the Indian Ministry of Urban Development. ICLEI is the Principal Supporter.
The summit will focus on issues like smart and inclusive cities, waste management, sustainable urban mobility, water management, energy efficiency and security, urban heritage management and tourism development. The event aims at fostering Euro-Indian cooperation for European and Indian cities, regions and States and their academic, scientific, corporate, professional and philanthropic stakeholders. Study visits, online platforms, a B2B meeting service and many other tools will encourage networking and facilitate a tailored matching between delegates.
The cities of Europe Basildon (UK), Berlin (Germany), Bordeaux (France), Copenhagen (Denmark), Mol (Belgium), Nysa (Poland), Saragoza and Valladolid (Spain) and Torino (Italy) will be represented at the event by civic officials and academics/research institutions, such as the prestigious Copenhagen Business School, the Frei Universität of Berlin, the School of Higher Vocational Education of Nysa, the Politecnico Instituto of Turin and the VITO-Flemish Institute for Technological Research. Reputed European companies are also slated to attend: Alstom, Cap Gemini, EGIS, EnviroComms, EPTISA, Philips, Propelair, Siemens, Suez Environment, Sun Carrier Omega, etc
Participants and other interested cities who require specific EU technologies and solutions, and are thus looking for a Euro-India match, can already submit their requests through the EuroIndia website. EBTC will then disseminate the Urban Development query through its network, to find the most suitable match. To fill out the form, click here.

ICLEI- Local Governments for Sustainability seeks to build an international policy environment that strengthens local government and supports local sustainability. To facilitate this, ICLEI coordinates local government representation in several UN organizations. Our contributions in the form of side events, publications, verbal interventions and official background papers have been a consistent, major source of international attention to local initiatives and opportunities to enhance sustainability.

ICLEI helps strengthen the capacity of local government officials and leaders to drive a process of change towards sustainable development. ICLEI’s Global Capacity Centre (formerly the International Training Centre) organizes seminars, workshops, and conferences, and offers distance training, study tours, and exchange programs. Regular conferences focused on capacity building and exchange take place globally and regionally.
ICLEI South Asia offers local governments a range of services that support training and capacity building on a number of topics such as carbon emission inventorisation, vulnerability assessment, resilience strategy development, integrated water management, holistic waste management, urban mobility and local biodiversity planning. These trainings are sometimes included in programmes and projects, but could also be designed as stand-alone initiatives.
Conferences organized by ICLEI South Asia also provide opportunities for peer exchanges and capacity building, such as the Asia LEDS Partnership Forums and the Resilient Cities Asia Pacific Congresses.
Technical and consulting services, as well as event organization, are provided on a contract basis, in a variety of areas including:
- Surveys, best practices identification and documentation, methodological research, and other studies;
- Development of pilot and demonstration projects;
- Fee-for-service technical consulting in key management areas relevant to local government.

ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability, over the last 20 years, has built considerable in-house research capacity drawing on inter-disciplinary teams of experts and practitioners across its offices worldwide.
