Serving the Indian water sector at Aquatech 2014

The fifth edition of Aquatech India, for which ICLEI is a partner, will be taking place from 6-8 May 2014, and promises to be a one-of its-kind, international, high quality water technology event serving the complete Indian water sector. Aquatech India 2014, organised by Amsterdam RAI in partnership with InterAdsBrooks features the best possible range of new and proven products on process, drinking and waste water and incorporates the Water Asia show.
The Aquatech India conference offers a forum for water industry professionals to exchange knowledge and ideas related to creating an enabling environment, to improve water services delivery to domestic, irrigation and industries. A new part of the Aquatech India conference is the Industrial Leaders Forum, were we put the spotlight on industrial water use. We believe the story about water technology solutions for a green economy should continue. The Industrial Leaders Forum India will gather Captains of Industry within the Steel, Energy, Automotive, Food sector such as Tata, Mahindra, Jain Irrigation to present their water stewardship journey. Agenda will include an interactive panel discussion for industrial & water leaders and NGO’s such as WWF to discuss innovative solutions for water transformation and develop a roadmap for necessary advances in water transformation to respond to future sustainability challenges.

ICLEI- Local Governments for Sustainability seeks to build an international policy environment that strengthens local government and supports local sustainability. To facilitate this, ICLEI coordinates local government representation in several UN organizations. Our contributions in the form of side events, publications, verbal interventions and official background papers have been a consistent, major source of international attention to local initiatives and opportunities to enhance sustainability.

ICLEI helps strengthen the capacity of local government officials and leaders to drive a process of change towards sustainable development. ICLEI’s Global Capacity Centre (formerly the International Training Centre) organizes seminars, workshops, and conferences, and offers distance training, study tours, and exchange programs. Regular conferences focused on capacity building and exchange take place globally and regionally.
ICLEI South Asia offers local governments a range of services that support training and capacity building on a number of topics such as carbon emission inventorisation, vulnerability assessment, resilience strategy development, integrated water management, holistic waste management, urban mobility and local biodiversity planning. These trainings are sometimes included in programmes and projects, but could also be designed as stand-alone initiatives.
Conferences organized by ICLEI South Asia also provide opportunities for peer exchanges and capacity building, such as the Asia LEDS Partnership Forums and the Resilient Cities Asia Pacific Congresses.
Technical and consulting services, as well as event organization, are provided on a contract basis, in a variety of areas including:
- Surveys, best practices identification and documentation, methodological research, and other studies;
- Development of pilot and demonstration projects;
- Fee-for-service technical consulting in key management areas relevant to local government.
