INTERACT-Bio Event Spotlights Urban Biodiversity Issues
A two-day National Outreach Event on Urban Biodiversity was organised in collaboration with the Wildlife Institute of India in Dehradun, as part of the INTERACT-Bio project, which is supported by Germany’s Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU).
The event was attended by leaders and officials from 25 cities and three state biodiversity boards, and a representative from the National Biodiversity Authority.
The two-day event included one day of classroom sessions on the significance of urban biodiversity, laws and legislations, and on methods to assess biodiversity and to undertake long-term planning. The second day comprised field visits to sensitise the participants on nature-based solutions.
