KASpaces 10-Nation Webinar Series Puts Focus on Sustainable Solutions for Urban Development
The South Asia and South-East Asia offices of ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability, with support from Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS), Singapore, are jointly organising national-level KASpaces webinars in 10 countries in July and August 2021.
The webinars – organised in Sri Lanka, India, Bhutan, Nepal and Bangladesh, as well as the Philippines, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia and Cambodia – focus on sustainable solutions for urban development, including issues of internal migration, climate resilience, affordable housing, open spaces and sustainable transport, linked to the Sustainable Development Goal 11 (SDG 11) and the COVID-19 pandemic. This webinar series is aimed at identifying the issues and collaborative framework for cities and subnational authorities to achieve sustainable urban development; promote collaboration and cooperation between various stakeholders in addressing the associated challenges; build capacities of various stakeholders through networking and technical discussions with subject matter experts and practitioners; and discuss the best practices and sustainable urban development models that would be effective in achieving SDG 11 and recovery from the pandemic.
KASpaces provides a platform to various stakeholders to actively engage in discussions on new technologies for providing diverse sustainable solutions for urban development, and an opportunity to exchange expertise and best practices in building inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable cities. Representatives of local governments, civil society organisations, and companies working on innovative solutions for urban development across the region are being invited to engage in discussions on how they could work together to reinforce synergies in building sustainable cities, and also see that SDG 11 is achieved across the region.
