Lahaul Pasturelands: Stakeholders Hold Final Stage of Talks on Restoration Plan
A detailed site visit to Lahaul valley in Himachal Pradesh was undertaken to hold the final round of stakeholder consultations and discussions with local officials for developing a restoration plan for high-altitude grasslands, under the UNDP-supported SECURE Himalaya project.
The discussions held during the visit revolved around the ratification of the areas and the causes of pastureland degradation that had been identified in the previous year. The interactions helped to develop a site-specific and in-depth understanding of the issues related to pastureland degradation. The inputs received will be used to develop a model restoration plan for the degraded pasturelands.
