Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) preparing Green building policy for Rajkot city under BEA
The first draft of the Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) green building policy guidelines for Rajkot city as part of “Building Efficiency Accelerator” partnership has been completed and is shared with key RMC officials including the Commissioner and all Deputy Municipal Commissioners for their inputs and feedback.
The Rajkot Municipal Commissioner Shri. Banchhanidhi Pani made a press statement regarding the same and announced that after being selected as a SMART city, Rajkot will now strive to become ‘best city to live in’ with the adoption of RMC Green building Policy.
A stakeholders meeting consisting of senior RMC officials and city engineers was held on 8th of August, 2017 to discuss and review the Assessment criteria. Incentives framework and governance structure for implementation of the policy.
Implemented by the ICLEI South Asia with support from World Resource Institute and the UN SE4All Initiative, the RMC green building policy aims to creates incentives for resource efficient buildings that are urgently needed in our cities to reduce the ever-increasing demand for resources by building sector.
The policy provides for specific interventions, including the development of the green building assessment criteria, award categories and incentives framework, capacity building and the development of institutional structure and assessment process to mainstream green building practices.
