As the Chairperson of ICLEI South Asia, Ms. Hansa Patel continues to work closely with the cities and ICLEI staff to facilitate the exchange of environmental protection innovations by transfer of technology. She is also the Executive Advisor of the All India Institute of Local Self Governments, where she ensures that local authorities in India contribute more effectively to the urban development process and provide better living conditions to the citizens at large. At present, she is the Chairperson to Develop Asian Cities for Urban Sustainability and also to Twin Cities for Linking Business and Education Awareness.

Professor A.K.Maitra is an architect-town planner by profession. He has been involved in the field of planning and development of human settlements within environmental sustainability for more than 45 years now. He is an environment and development enthusiast and acts as a consultant for numerous government, regional and international organisations. Professor Maitra has written several books and journals too.

Emani Kumar is the Executive Director of ICLEI South Asia since its founding in 2005. Also the Deputy Secretary-General of ICLEI Global since 2013, he works with all the offices in Asia, ensuring cohesion in the implementation of ICLEI’s agendas and spearheads advocacy activities in the region. He also supports the Secretary-General in representing ICLEI at all international fora.

With degrees in Environmental Management, Environmental Planning, and Civil Engineering, Emani has more than twenty-five years of professional experience in climate change policy and planning, urban local governance, urban and environmental planning, renewable energy and energy efficiency, social accountability, systems management, and auditing.

Soumya Chaturvedula brings her training in Environmental Engineering and Environmental Management to the varied roles she has been playing in ICLEI South Asia since 2008. With design experience in water resource engineering and solid waste management, she is passionate about and works extensively with the sustainability team, supporting cities to tackle municipal waste, including plastic waste management. Experienced in climate action planning, with a focus on mitigation measures across sectors, she steers the development and implementation of cross-sector projects covering the fields of renewable energy, energy efficiency, air pollution abatement, and urban cooling. As the Deputy Director of ICLEI South Asia, she also provides strategic advice to multi-country development programs, the Government of India, various sub-national governments, and cities.

Ashish Rao Ghorpade joined ICLEI in 2008. He is an Architect, Urban and Regional Planner working in the development sector since 2002.

Ashish has been working with Indian cities and believes that influencing the urban transport and urban built environment for low carbon development can go a long way in making cities more livable and sustainable. Previously, he also worked for developing a sector status study and futuristic development path for the Tourism sector for the state of Himachal Pradesh and preparation of the Public Financial Management and Accountability report (India) funded by the World Bank.

Currently at ICLEI South Asia, Ashish manages ICLEI’s urban planning, mobility and green buildings related initiatives in the South Asian region. Ashish also works as lead representative for urban planning, sustainable transport and green buildings related initiatives at ICLEI – South Asia. He has worked in various projects for cities supported by the European Commission, BMU and GIZ Germany, Asia Pacific partnership Program funded by US-DOS, USAID, Climate Works Foundation, Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation, British High Commission, GGGI and city members of ICLEI, various state governments and the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India.

Bedoshruti joined ICLEI South Asia in August 2007 and has a Masters degree in Environmental Management from the Forest Research Institute, Dehradun. She has more than 10 years experience in the field of environment and project management, especially on environmental justice, environmental impact assessment and public participation in decision making.

She has also researched extensively on the environmental impact assessments of hydropower projects, especially with reference to the north-east region of India and developed a framework for socio-environmental impact assessment of hydropower projects. She has experience of training and capacity building in the field of environmental impact assessment and public participation, environmental law, environmental management systems, climate change adaptation. Along with advocacy and campaigns on environmental issues, she has also previously worked on human rights issues such as housing rights and tribal rights.

Bedoshruti is a key member of the ICLEI South Asia sustainability team. She is managing several long term international projects on environmental management systems for local governments, water and sanitation as well as solid waste management. She is a key member of the ICLEI ACCCRN team and has been working on climate change adaptation in India and Bangladesh under this project. She is also involved in ICLEI South Asia’s membership activities.

Ritu joined ICLEI South Asia in October 2010. She is a master in Water Resources Management from TERI (The Energy and Resources Institute) University, and holds a B.Sc. Zoology Honors degree from Miranda House, University of Delhi. She has experience in projects related to closure and rehabilitation of landfills, testing and extraction of landfill gases and other solid waste management projects in various locations in India.

During her major project at TERI, she worked on a project under Yamuna Action Plan II where she carried out a gap analysis in municipal solid waste management in towns of Haryana vis-à-vis MSW Rules, 2000.Her primary area of interest lies in urban services, environment planning, climate change and sustainability.

Jubaer joined ICLEI South Asia in 2015. He has expertise in urban resilience planning. He holds a Masters in Disaster Management from the University of Dhaka, Bachelor’s in Urban and Rural Planning from Khulna University, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Development Planning from National Academy for Planning and Development. He is also an Environmental Management System Internal Auditor (ISO 14001:2015), and has certifications on climate change and cities from the United Nations Institute for Training and Research.

Jubaer is a member of the Bangladesh Institute of Planners (BIP) and has professional records in the field of urban planning, climate change and development research. He worked in both government and non-government organizations and has wide engagement with the local government institutions in Bangladesh. With more than 12 years of experience, he has conducted a number of development projects on climate change adaptation, renewable energy, and urban development plans along with national and international partners – UN-Habitat, European Union, Rockefeller Foundation, JICA, World Bank, RMMRU, DFID and the Local Government Engineering Department of the Government of Bangladesh.

Currently, at ICLEI South Asia, he is managing the Bangladesh country office and coordinate projects based in various cities of Bangladesh.

Geeta joined ICLEI in 2014. She is a proud owner of two Master’s degrees – Environmental Planning from Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology (CEPT) University, Ahmedabad, and a Masters in Geography from Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. She has also done a Post Graduate Diploma in Geo-Informatics form GIS Development in collaboration with Salzburg University Austria.

Geeta has six years of experience in the field of operational research, urban development and planning, environment impact assessment, sustainable development and climate change, and has worked various on research projects related to Climate Resilient Urban Development, Sustainable Cities and Disaster Risk Assessment, Urban Development and Management. She also has an experience of working with Urban Development Departments and Urban Local Bodies for research and training activities.

Currently at ICLEI South Asia, she is a Senior Project Officer for the project dealing with Integrated Urban Water Management System for Indian cities.

Rahul joined ICLEI in May 2012 and has a Masters degree in Environmental Management. Previously, he has worked as an Environment Auditor and audited top hotels situated nearby National parks of India. He assisted them to manage their Solid Waste, Energy and Water Consumption. He has also worked in water and air labs of Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC, Govt. of NCT). Rahul has experience in the field of training and capacity building in the field of Sustainable Management and has a working knowledge of GIS.

Currently, in ICLEI South Asia, he is involved in environmental sustainability projects focusing on environmental management, water, solid waste, and climate adaptation and also with CPHEEO Manual on Municipal Solid Waste Management, SUNYA- Towards zero waste and Realising DReAMS projects.

Nikhil joined ICLEI in July 2013. He has a Masters degree in Technology (M.Tech) in Environmental Engineering. Previously, he has worked as an engineer (Environment) at Ambuja Cement Limited and as a Research Engineer at the Center for Environmental Sciences and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai. He has an experience of Air pollution/ dispersion modelling, GHG analytics, carbon credits, life cycle assessment in the field of environment and also worked on implementation of national lake conservation plan at various lakes in India. He has also worked on environmental legislation, industrial environmental performance, environmental planning, sustainable development and environmental audits. He has also worked with national and grassroots NGOs in the field of resource conservation, wild life conservation and awareness activities.

Currently at ICLEI South Asia, Nikhil is a representative for project cities in Maharashtra and is involved in Urban LEDS, AdoptIUWM and Development of Solar City projects.

Rahul Rathi Joined ICLEI South Asia on 17th June 2013. He has a background in Geography with a Masters degree in Urban and Regional Planning from CEPT University. Previously, he has worked on Arc GIS and Auto CAD.
He has a good understanding of Urban and Regional Planning. He has worked on preparing Urban Development Plan for Kathmandu (Nepal) during his masters.
He has completed his internship at PAS (Performance Assessment System) and during Internship of two months he worked for City Sanitation Plan in two cities of Gujarat.

He represents ICLEI in Rajasthan and is presently involved in Integrated Urban Water Management (AdoptIUWM). He is working for Rajasthan cities, Kishangarh and Jaisalmer, and helps in organising workshops.

Pratibha joined ICLEI South Asia in February 2019. She holds a master’s degree in Urban Policy and Governance from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai and a bachelor’s degree in Geography from Calcutta University.

Prior to joining ICLEI South Asia, she worked at Development Alternatives, New Delhi, where she worked on policy research on sustainable social housing, looking primarily at low carbon and resource efficient building materials. She has also been part of several projects that looked at ensuring sustainable management of resources within a city, namely water.

Her primary areas of interest are in identifying business models for circular cities, and climate change mitigation strategies specifically in the urban context.

Najiba joined ICLEI South Asia in April 2020. Previously, she was associated with the Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and Pacific (CIRDAP) and Islamic Relief Bangladesh.

Najiba holds a Master’s Degree in Disaster Management from the Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies, University of Dhaka, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Khulna University of Engineering and Technology.

At ICLEI South Asia, she is working on the CDKN programme.

Sadeque Mahmud joined as a Consultant – VLR in Singra at ICLEI South Asia. He completed his graduation in Urban and Rural Planning from Khulna University and post-graduation in Governance and Development Studies from Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh. He is an Urban Planner by Profession. He has 12 years of work experience and has worked on urban local governance and livelihood support programs. He has also done program planning, management, training, monitoring and evaluation both nationally and internationally.

Monalisa joined ICLEI in July 2015. She has a PhD. In Environmental Sciences (University of Delhi), a Masters degree in Environmental Biology (University of Delhi) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Law and Policy (National Law University).

She has been working for over 14 years in the fields of Biodiversity Conservation, Community Development, Enterprise Based Conservation and Restoration Ecology. She has worked across many states in India including Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Orissa, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Kerala and Delhi. She has immense experience of working on issues related to biodiversity conservation in the Eastern Himalayas- a global biodiversity hotspot. She has worked with Centre for Environmental Management of Degraded Ecosystems, University of Delhi; IUCN India and InsPIRE Network for Environment, prior to joining ICLEI.

Currently, Monalisa is working on developing the biodiversity portfolio for ICLEI South Asia.

Rithika has more than 7 years of experience working with sub-national and local governments. She holds a master’s degree in conservation biology and a post-graduate diploma in research methodology, specialising in natural resource management from James Cook University, Australia. She has been active in the fields of Natural Resource Management, Ecology, Climate Adaptation and Resilience, Biodiversity and Nature-based Solutions.

At ICLEI South Asia, she primarily works with the Biodiversity team.

Alex joined ICLEI South Asia in May 2017.  He holds a Doctoral degree in Environmental Studies – Landscape ecology from Cochin University of Science and Technology, and a Masters’s degree in Environmental Science from the University of Calicut. He is also a recipient of a certificate of proficiency in Geoinformation Science and Technology from Mahatma Gandhi University.

He has been working for over 10 years in the fields of Landscape Ecology, GIS and Remote Sensing, Biodiversity Conservation, Biocultural Restoration and Extension & Training Activities. Prior to joining ICLEI South Asia, he has worked with the Forest Health and Extension & Training Division of Kerala Forest Research Institute, GIS and Remote Sensing Laboratory, Christ College Irinjalakkuda and Dairy Chemistry Laboratory, Kerala Agriculture University.

Currently, in ICLEI South Asia, he is the Senior Project Officer in Kochi working under the INTERACT-Bio project. The project aims at strengthening biodiversity management at all levels of governance and cooperation between national and sub-national authorities for ecosystem management in urban regions. The project is supported by BMUB ministry of government of Germany under their International Climate Initiative.

Ishaan joined ICLEI South Asia in March 2019. He has a degree in Bachelor of Science in Forestry. Previously, he has worked at the Kullu Forest Department for six months. He has also worked at the GHNP Wildlife Division where he conducted a one-month fauna survey. He has an interest in the conservation and sustainability of the environment. At ICLEI, Ishaan is working on the SECURE Himalaya project and is based in Lahaul, Pangi, and Spiti Valley of Himachal Pradesh.

Shayeesh holds a Master’s Degree in Zoology from Goa University. He also has experience in the field of community engagement, biodiversity documentation, and environmental science research. Shayeesh has worked as a Research Assistant at Mineral Foundation of Goa under the project Development of a Sustainable Bird Tourism Model at Navelim Wetland (IBA), Goa and as an Administrative Office Assistant at Tripura Foundation Builds HoPE. He has engaged with students from more than 20 schools in Goa during his career to make them aware of nature, bird conservation, and community development. He joined ICLEI in 2018 as a City Associate in Goa.

C. Sellakrishnan is a postgraduate in Town and Country Planning course from Anna University, Chennai. He has about eight years experience in urban and regional planning projects.

Previously, he has worked on various State and Central Government sponsored Research and consultancy projects such as City Corporate Plans, Traffic Operational and Management Plans (TOMP) etc., as a Project Associate at the Centre for Human Settlements (CHS), Anna University. He joined Speck Systems Ltd Hyderabad in 2006, and has worked on urban projects using satellite imageries, GIS and urban utility mapping jobs.

Currently at ICLEI South Asia, Sellakrishnan has been involved in CCP cities of Coimbatore and Madurai. He has worked on greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory and implementation of the GHG emission reduction plans. At present he is working on the Local Renewables Model Communities Network project in Coimbatore City Corporation in Tamil Nadu.

Nikhil joined ICLEI South Asia in November, 2013 and has a Master’s degree in Energy Technology from the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand and a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering. He has diverse experience of working in areas of energy and climate change with city governments, national and international organizations, technical experts and businesses. Nikhil is also a certified lead auditor for ISO 50001 Energy Management System.

He is managing the execution of various projects and programmes as part of ICLEI’s Energy & Climate team. Nikhil is engaged in assisting cities through activities such as preparation of baseline energy and GHG emission inventories, energy and climate action planning, identification and implementation of renewable energy and energy efficiency solutions, undertaking technical research and analysis, stakeholder engagement and coordination among others.

Nikhil is currently working with Indian cities to assess their feasibility and potential to deploy efficient district cooling systems under UNEP’s District Energy in Cities Initiative. He has been involved in an Asian Development Bank assignment to carry out an investment grade energy audit for a LED street lighting retrofit project for 100,000 streetlights in Malaysia. Under the CapaCITIES project, he is assisting cities to address climate mitigation and adaptation in an integrated manner. He also supports ICLEI South Asia in its activities as the Asia LEDS Partnership Secretariat and manages ICLEI’s GHG emissions inventory tool HEAT+. Nikhil has been engaged in previous projects such as Urban LEDS, Urban Green Growth Strategies for Indian cities, and NAMA research study in India.

Nikhil has previously worked as an Energy Specialist with a private consulting firm based in Mumbai.

Anandhan joined ICLEI South Asia in 2012 as Senior Engineer in New Delhi.
He holds B.Tech Energy & Environmental Engineering from TamilNadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore.

He has around 8 years of professional experience in the areas of Climate Change Mitigation including Renewable energy and energy efficiency; GHG inventory and Low Emission Development Strategies.

Previously he was working in Climate Change & Sustainability Services team of Ernst & Young Private Limited, where he was handling CDM validation and verification projects, involved in Accreditation and registration of Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) project and Baseline energy compilation and baseline energy audit of Designated Consumers (DC) under Perform Achieve and Trade (PAT) scheme.

In ICLEI, he has worked in a variety of projects, including Promoting Low Emission Urban Development Strategies in Emerging Economy Countries (Urban LEDS), Solar Cities, development of ICLEI’s Harmonized Emission Analysis Tool (HEAT) plus, South-South cooperation between cities in India, Indonesia and South Africa., etc.

Currently he is working to deliver “Asia LEDS Partnership Secretariat Services”, which aims to promote and advance LEDS in the Asia region; also he is involved in building Sustainable “National and Sub National Greenhouse Gas Estimates” for waste sector.

Ankit joined ICLEI in 2014. He holds a Masters degree in Environmental Planning from CEPT University Ahmedabad and a Bachelors degree in Environmental Engineering. Also, he is now pursuing a Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Laws and Policy.

Ankit has worked in various sectors – Air pollution, Capacity Building, Road safety audit, Heritage conservation and Environmental services – at various levels. He has also worked very closely with a variety of stakeholders – from local communities, government officers and officials at various levels, and Urban Local Bodies of Gujarat.

Currently, at ICLEI South Asia, he is the lead for the Urban LEDS implementation in Rajkot City, Gujarat.
Working with local governments for undertaking innovative ideas for sustainable development and enhancing the environmental condition of Rajkot are a few of the key aspects of his work.

Bhaskar joined ICLEI South Asia in 2018. He is an environment professional with diversified experience in research & analysis, policy advocacy, international climate negotiations, project management, and development. He holds a Master’s Degree in Climate Change & Sustainable Development from Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology (CEPT) University, Ahmedabad, Gujarat and another Master’s Degree in Environment Science from Bharati Vidyapeeth University, Pune, Maharashtra.

He has over seven years of experience at various capacities in industry, government, civil society institutions working in several sectors such as climate and environment policy, renewable energy, clean energy access, cities, climate innovation etc. He also has keen interest in research and his work has also been published in various books and peer reviewed journals.

Prior to ICLEI South Asia, he has worked with different institutions like Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India and WWF-India. He was involved in India’s submissions to UNFCCC on APA and SBSTA agenda items of adaptation, Loss & Damage and Nairobi Work Programme, technical review and consultation process for Sub-Committee on Forestry to develop and finalising strategy paper for implementation of India’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) and preparation of National REDD+ Strategy and REDD+ Safeguard Information System documents.

Currently, at ICLEI South Asia, he is a Deputy Manager in the Energy and Climate team. He will be working on the Urban-LEDS II project which aims at contributing in reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by the promotion of Urban Low Emission Development Strategies (Urban LEDS) in cities/towns in emerging economies (Brazil, Colombia, India, Indonesia and South Africa), and Least Developed Countries (Bangladesh, Lao PDR and Rwanda). He is also involved in the GHG platform India (GHGPI) project, a collective civil-society initiative providing an independent estimation and analysis of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across key sectors in India.

Mukesh Patir joined ICLEI South Asia on 14th August, 2020 as the National Project Coordinator of CapaCITIES Phase-II project and is currently based at the Climate Centre for Cities (C-Cube) located at the National Institute of Urban Affairs, New Delhi. As a part of his job profile, he supports among others, liaising with relevant ministries, coordinates with project partners, help disseminate knowledge products, assists C-Cube activities, and coordinates with its partners.

Keshav joined ICLEI in 2011. He holds a Master’s in Environmental Studies from the School of Environment Studies (SES), University of Delhi and two Postgraduate Diploma in Urban Planning & Development and Environmental Law & Management and an Appreciation program in Sustainability Sciences.

Keshav is a Climate Reality Leader trained by Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore and has a four and a half years of experience in the Greenhouse Gases (GHG) Emissions Accounting, Urban Low Emission and Climate Resilience Development planning. Previously, he has been working in the sustainable development sector with organizations like the World Wildlife Fund -India,Tehri Hydro Development Corporation Ltd., Toxic’s Link etc.

Currently at ICLEI South Asia, Keshav is an integral part for most projects and programms on Low-carbon Climate-resilient Development. He is also currently preparing the Delhi State Action Plan on Climate Change (SAPCC) with the Department of Environment, Government of Delhi as per the guidelines of Ministry of Environment & Forest, Government of India. He has also been associated with ‘Quantification of Mitigation Intervention of Delhi City as a Whole’ wherein he inventorised Delhi’s Greenhouse Gas Emission and critically analyzed the Delhi government mitigation interventions.

Souhardo joined ICLEI South Asia in September 2016. Before this he had worked with WRI India and IIM Ahmedabad. He has almost three years of work experience in the field of urban development. His expertise also includes environment planning, logistics management, and land management. He is a Master of Planning graduate from CEPT University Ahmedabad, and a Master of Science graduate from Presidency University, Kolkata. He has several publications to his name including a World Bank and an IIM paper.

Currently at ICLEI South Asia he is involved with the CapaCITIES project in Siliguri.

Bhupandra Salodia joined ICLEI South Asia in April 2017 and is presently involved with the CapaCITIES project in Udaipur. He is an architect and has a post-graduation degree in Urban and Regional Planning (2012-2014) from CEPT University, Ahmedabad.

He has a diverse experience of 7 years in the Urban Planning and Architecture domain. Previously, he worked as an urban planner in a Delhi-based firm- Mosaic. He has worked on projects that developed the Tourism Master Plan of Chilika Lake and its Catchment in Odisha, the Tourism Master Plan of Tehri in Uttrakhand and the Coastal Tourism Development Plan for Karnataka.

Shardul Venegurkar is a mechanical engineer from Pune. Before joining ICLEI South Asia as Project Officer, in March 2017, Shardul worked with Orange County Foundation, Pune. He has over four years of work experience in the renewable energy sector and is familiar with environment technologies like solar PV, solar thermal, small scale wind turbines, GHG inventories, green building certification for residential buildings, lime plaster, rain water harvesting, sewage water treatment plant, waste composts, and more. His expertise includes rooftop solar PV systems, solar thermal systems, energy efficiency and management.

Shardul played a key role in a project which provided green energy (solar energy) to every apartment in residential societies through a common roof-top solar PV system ultimately spreading awareness and increasing confidence among the residents regarding solar energy use at the household level. He worked with the FRAUNHOFER ICT team, Germany, on a project aimed at turning a township of more than 100 acres into a carbon neutral one and regularly disseminates at architectural and engineering firms, information about green buildings.

Nagendran Nagarajan joined ICLEI South Asia in 2010. He holds a Master’s in Spatial Information Technology – Department of School of Earth and Atmospheric Science from the University of Madras and He holds a Master’s in Environmental Science in Bharathiyar University also Post Graduate in Disaster Management in IGNOU.

He has around 12 years of professional experience in the areas of Remote Sensing and GIS, Municipal GIS, Town Planning, Climate Change and Mitigation, Non-Motorised Transport Planning, Master Plan for Solid Waste Management, Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency; Solar Plant Design, GHG inventory and Low Emission Development Strategies, Bio-Gas Plant design with Measuring, Reporting and Verifying (MRV).

Previously he was working in Senior GIS Engineer of Magnasoft Private Limited, where he was handling deployment and different platforms in Utility Mapping, Transportation Networking Management, Town Planning Regulations, Water Utility Management (SCDA), Housing Board Construction Management & Preparation of Master Plan with DPR’s cities in TamilNadu. Nilesh Prajapati joined ICLEI South Asia in January 2020 and is presently involved with the CapaCITIES project in Rajkot, Gujarat. He has a Masters’ Degree in Urban Management from CEPT University, Ahmedabad, and has a B.Tech Degree in Instrumentation & Control from Nirma University, Ahmedabad.

Nilesh has previously worked with ULBs to support the deliverables of Swachh Bharat Mission and National Urban Livelihood Mission. He has also worked on execution, installation, testing, and commissioning for coal and gas-based power plants.

Senthil Kumar Arumugam joined ICLEI South Asia in 2019. He holds a master’s degree in Sustainable Energy Technology from the Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands, and a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical with Specialisation in Energy Engineering from VIT University, Vellore, India.

He has versatile project experience in various energy technologies and specialised in low-grade heat recovery for his master thesis research. He was briefly involved in a start-up project working on a passive cooling idea to cool down buildings using energy from sunlight.

Anuradha joined ICLEI South Asia in 2019. She has double master’s degrees: one in Planning (M. Plan) with specialisation in Environmental Planning from CEPT University, Ahmedabad, and the other in Science (M. Sc.) in Geography from the University of Calcutta.

She has diverse experience in the field of on-site sanitation, municipal service delivery, and community development. Prior to this, she worked with the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) and the International Water Management Institute (IWMI). She was deputed as a Sanitation as well as a GIS expert in ASCI for providing technical support to the Government of AP ‘S3 Andhra Project’, and Telangana. Responsible for developing GIS maps, data management, and analysis of 100% property records of pilot towns in these two states aligned with SBM-urban.

She also has extensive working knowledge of Transaction Advisory Services, documenting the best practices and community mobilisation for research with marginalised populations at the grass-roots level, and worked towards providing natural resource-based livelihood.

At ICLEI South Asia, she is responsible for Holistic Solid Waste Management Project in GHMC with a specific focus on Plastic Waste Management.

He has been associated with ICLEI through various projects as an intern during his graduation.

Abdulla – Al Kafy joined ICLEI South Asia in November 2019. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology, Rajshahi. He is an Urban Planner with experience in Urban Planning, City Master Plan preparation, Environmental Management, Geographic Information System, Remote Sensing and Research Projects in various regions of Bangladesh. During the course of his professional career, he has worked with different Public and Private organisations.

He has previously worked with the Center for Environmental and Geographic Information Services in Dhaka where he conducted land use map preparation, monitored and ensured the quality of the fieldwork and data management. He was also responsible for ensuring the quality of data analysis and environmental analysis for the Chattogram Hill Tracks region in Bangladesh.

He moved on to work with an international company, where he conducted solid waste management studies, developed layout plans for new dumping locations, and ensured the effective participatory feedback provided by the community and Dhaka South City Corporation stakeholders for ensuring sustainable waste recycling procedure in a particular area in Dhaka.

He also worked at Rajshahi Development Authority in preparation of a functional, detail, and disaster risk-sensitive master plan for making Rajshahi city disaster resilience and environmentally sustainable.  At ICLEI South Asia, Abdulla – Al Kafy is working on Urban Low Emission Development Strategy (Urban LEDS II) project in Rajshahi City Corporation, Bangladesh.

J A M Mostahidul Alam joined ICLEI South Asia in April 2019. He is an Urban Planner with demonstrated experience in Urban Planning, Development, and Research Projects in various regions of Bangladesh. Throughout his professional career, he has worked with different Public and Private organisations.

His initial professional involvement was in a research project on Existing Building Safety Standards in Narayanganj City Corporation. Later on, he worked with German Development Cooperation (GIZ) in the Climate Finance Governance project in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Forests, where he helped assess Nationwide Climate Vulnerability and update the National Climate Policy document. He has also worked in a research project on Urban Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) assessment for Chattogram City Corporation, supported by Unicef.

During his professional career, his major responsibilities included data collection, management, and interpretation, conducting focus group discussions and thematic analysis of the findings, policy development, project management, stakeholder consultation, and rapport building.

At ICLEI South Asia, Mostahidul is working on Urban Low Emission Development Strategy (LEDS II) project in Narayanganj City Corporation, Bangladesh.

Jay joined ICLEI South Asia in July, 2020 and has a Master’s degree in Infrastructure Engineering Design from the CEPT University, Ahmedabad and a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering. He has diverse experience of working in areas of Urban Development, Island Development, Sustainable Development Goals, Smart Cities, Swatch Survekshan, Tourism and other Flagship Schemes of GOI with city, State and national Governments. He has been Completed various courses on Integrated Urban Transportation Planning, Vulnerability Atlas of India, Open data for Policy makers and users, ESRI-The Location Advantage and Google certified Digital Marketing Courses.

Prior to joining ICLEI- SA as Project officer, he was associated with the Darashaw & Company Pvt.Ltd, PwC and has been involved in projects ranging from Infrastructure Proposals, Smart Cities PMC, feasibility of Island Development and Planning, preparation of Road map and analysis to achieve 17 SDG, Ease of doing business, Solid waste management, Transportation to planning, designing and implementing of various Urban Development Projects.

He is currently based out of Vadodara, Gujarat where works with the local corporation and other concerned stakeholders on the projects, Jay is engaged in assisting cities through activities such as preparation of baseline energy and GHG emission inventories, climate action planning under CapaCITIES Project. He is support to Corporation in Climate Smart Cities Assessment Framework which include all types of sectors.

Ashish Rao Ghorpade joined ICLEI in 2008. He is an Architect, Urban and Regional Planner working in the development sector since 2002.

Ashish has been working with Indian cities and believes that influencing the urban transport and urban built environment for low carbon development can go a long way in making cities more livable and sustainable. Previously, he also worked for developing a sector status study and futuristic development path for the Tourism sector for the state of Himachal Pradesh and preparation of the Public Financial Management and Accountability report (India) funded by the World Bank.

Currently at ICLEI South Asia, Ashish manages ICLEI’s urban planning, mobility and green buildings related initiatives in the South Asian region. Ashish also works as lead representative for urban planning, sustainable transport and green buildings related initiatives at ICLEI – South Asia. He has worked in various projects for cities supported by the European Commission, BMU and GIZ Germany, Asia Pacific partnership Program funded by US-DOS, USAID, Climate Works Foundation, Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation, British High Commission, GGGI and city members of ICLEI, various state governments and the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India.

She has also worked on projects funded by various multilateral and bilaterals such as the Asian Development Bank, European Union, Bernard van Leer Foundation, World Bank, DFID, IFC, etc. She has been involved in various projects such as developing spaces for young children and their caregivers, providing technical assistance under mobility and built environment in various smart cities, developing action plans and strategies for gender-sensitive transport, streamlining rag pickers within city governments, providing assistance to city governments on different service sector issues, preparing city development plans, smart city proposals, institutional development studies for city governments, etc.

Yougal Tak is an Architect and Infrastructure Planner, who has over seven years of experience in traffic and transport planning as well as transport research. He completed his post gradation from the Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology (CEPT) University, Ahmedabad in 2010.

Prior to joining ICLEI- SA as Assistant Manager, he was associated with the Directorate of Urban Land Transport (DULT), a one of its kind state government department under the Urban Development Department (UDD), in Bengaluru, Karnataka and has been involved in projects ranging from Smart City Proposals, feasibility of BRTS in tier I & tier II towns, preparation of On- Street Parking Management Systems, to planning, designing and implementing bus priority lanes.

He is currently based out of Udaipur, Rajasthan where works with the local corporation and other concerned stakeholders on the projects, Supporting Smart Urban Mobility and Built Environment in Indian Cities and CapaCITIES.

Vijay has over 2 years of experience in the field of urban development and management, and has worked on infrastructure and management aspects of various projects in more than 15 cities, which includes Freight management, Infrastructure improvement, pedestrian infrastructure for heritage area, City Development Plan, Circulation plan, Management plan, Financial feasibilities, Road network geometrics, Traffic impact assessment and decongestion and Urban Green Growth.

She holds a master’s degree in Infrastructure Planning from Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology (CEPT) University, Ahmedabad, Gujarat and bachelor’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from JNA-FAU, Hyderabad.

She has over 5 years of experience in water and sanitation sector having covered the areas like WASH development plans, 24X7 water supply, PPP, Service level benchmarking and aided WASH implementation projects. Her experience include responsibilities like project management, strategy developments, co-ordination with clients, stakeholder consultation, community management, technical assessment, capacity building, advocacy, Draft GO development, policy research, MIS and managing PMU/ team towards project goals. Apart from water and sanitation, she also has experience in projects like Value Capture Financing, City Development Plans, Housing for All etc.

Prior to ICLEI South Asia, she has worked with different organisations like CRISlL, SaciWaters, Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) and TARU Leading edge. She was involved in projects like ‘City Wide Delivery of WASH Facilities in Warangal City’ funded by Bill Melinda Gates Foundation, Asian Cities Climate Change Resilience Network (ACCCRN) funded project in Indore and ‘Citizen’s First Campaign on Accountability for Drinking Water and Sanitation ’ funded by WaterAid.

Harshith joined ICLEI in September 2018. He holds a Master’s in Advance Mechanical Engineering from University of Leicester, United Kingdom. Harshith has been working as a Strategic Consultant for 5 years for various governments, politicians in terms of governance, transport and elections.

Harshith was working as a Program Manager in Dialogue and Development Commission (DDC), Govt. of NCT of Delhi – a think tank body to assist the Chief Minister Mr. Arvind Kejriwal with recommendations on various new policies across the globe. During his tenure, he had facilitated the government on major projects such as odd-even policy, electric mobility pilot, e-rickshaw registration drive, elevated cycle track, installation of Wi-Fi & CCTV in buses, solid waste management, rejuvenation of water bodies, etc.

He also worked as a Political Consultant for Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC) to strategise and design the campaigns for upcoming general elections in 2019.

Currently at ICLEI South Asia, Harshith has been posted in the Ministry of Transport, Govt. of NCT of Delhi to assist the government on all transport and environment related projects.

Sooraj joined ICLEI South Asia in Month, 2018 as a Project Officer for the EcoLogistics project in Kochi, Kerala. He interest lies in working on the built environment focusing on sustainability and improving the quality of life. For the EcoLogistics project, Sooraj is responsible for working closely with the Local government towards the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions coming from the urban freight sector. He also assists the city to contribute significantly to the nations intended NDC.

Sooraj holds a Master’s Degree in City Planning with focus on City/Urban, Community and Regional Planning from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur and a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekananda Technical University (CSVTU), Bhilai.

Abbas joined ICLEI South Asia in February 2021 as an Urban Design Expert at Udaipur PMU office.  Prior to this, he was working at the Indian Institute of Management Udaipur as Project Manager.

He has over ten years of experience across both commercial and residential projects in India and internationally.  He was a member of the team working on BIM models using  Revit on a large-scale project in Kuwait designed by Norman Foster and Partners and have also worked on a LEED platinum commercial project and a GRIHA five-star institutional project of IIM-Udaipur

He has studied Urban designing at Institute for Advance Architecture of Catalonia, Barcelona Spain. after completing his Bachelor’s in Architecture from Aayojan School of Architecture, Jaipur. At ICLEI South Asia, Abbas is responsible for all planning, design and implementation of all the activities under the project.

Om Prakash joined ICLEI South Asia in 2021 as ECCD Specialist. Hailing from Udaipur, Rajasthan, Om brings in robust contextual thematic expertise to his projects. He has more than 13 years of extensive field experience on child holistic development and age appropriate pedagogy design for children. His unique blend of communication, community management and networking skills have resulted in project successes that have been appreciated at various national and state level platforms.

Om has wide experience of working with children and youth, and strengthening government’s existing structures. He is a national level trainer on Early Childhood Care and Development, Sustainable Menstrual Health Management, Life Skills to name a few. He has upskilled more than 9000+ individuals (youth, women, Anganwadi workers). Om has received two national level fellowships: Youth Ki Awaaz and Safe Access Fellowship; mentored 50+ National and International fellows and interns of reputed Universities and Institutions.

In addition, she was associated with Washington Post as a Researcher in the Delhi bureau. She has also freelanced as an Assistant Producer for a Discovery television series.

Ritwick Boyi joined ICLEI South Asia’s Hyderabad office in November 2011. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Science (Computers) from Osmania University in Hyderabad and is pursuing a Master’s in Business Management. He was earlier associated with ISB, Hyderabad.

Currently, at ICLEI South Asia, Ritwick manages the Hyderabad office activities and supports the team in managing daily operations. He also assists with the facilitation of ICLEI South Asia’s operations.

Ariful joined ICLEI South Asia in September 2020. Currently he is based in Dhaka, Bangladesh and supports all office activities at the ICLEI Bangladesh Country Office. He is good team player and has interest in traveling.

Siba has a Bachelors’s degree in Commerce (Accounting Hons.) from Utkal University, Orissa. He joined ICLEI – South Asia in May 2009 as an Account and Administrative officer. He has worked with Indiabulls (HO) & in Unicon Investment Solutions (HO) as an accounts executive where his responsibilities included stocks and books debt audit of various companies on behalf of Syndicate Bank, OBC, Vijaya Bank through a CA Firm. He has worked on various accounting software such as LD, Focus, Tally, Busy, etc.

Vishal Joined ICLEI in July 2012. He has a Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA). He has a proven record of contributing to the profitability of previous employers by his efficient and hard working ability with extensive experience in Accounting & Financial systems. Previously, Vishal was working as a Senior Executive at Religare Securities Ltd.

Currently, at ICLEI South Asia, he is responsible for the finance and accounts activities of the office which includes preparing financial reports of various projects, liaising with the bank, managing salaries and payments, etc.

Manoj has a Master’s Degree in Commerce (with specialization in Finance) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (Accounting Hons.) from Ravenshaw University, Orissa.

He joined ICLEI – South Asia in November 2019 as Accounts Officer. He was previously associated with REACH, Advocacy in Tuberculosis as Senior Finance and Admin Officer & Jindal Stainless Limited where his responsibilities included maintaining books of accounts and reporting financial information as per senior management and donor requirements.
